It all started when a friend of my Mother gave her some seed, that in turn had been given to her by a friend, and just like the old whisper game “pass it on” by the time mom got the seeds we had no idea what kind of vine they would grow.
Fast forward a few weeks and the seeds planted at the base of the mailbox have grown into a rambling vine, and we still have no idea what kind of plant it is. It has pitiful little flowers that look a lot like egg-plant flowers.
And when the flower dries, it’s replaced by this vegetable/fruit thingy. What in the world is it? Maybe a gourd?
You all did so well helping me figure out my last vine conundrum, to refresh you memory click here, so I’m putting my faith in you again dear readers. I know your mystery solving skills will once again prevail!
I can’t wait to hear what you come up with on this one.

Looks like the early stages to a Birdhouse Bottle gourd. Best of luck with that1

It’s definitely a gourd and it has such an interesting shape.
No clue on my end, Caroline!
