Moscow Mule

My friend Oprah, has raved about these cocktails for years, so I finally headed her advice and mixed one up.

Who new, Oprah was right, they are good!

The measurements I’m giving are for two Moscow Mule’s.

Juice 2 fresh limes, or if you’re lazy like me from time to time, and forget to write ‘lime’ on your grocery list, you can always use the lime juice from the plastic lime container in your fridge.  I have a collection of plastic lime and lemons in my fridge, you never know when you’re going to need some.

You need to end up with about 2 ounces of lime juice.

Pour in 2 ounces of vodka.

Add your 2 ounces of lime juice.

Toss in 4 teaspoons of simple syrup.

Simple syrup is 2 parts sugar to 1 part hot water. Stir until the sugar is all dissolved.

Grab a bottle of ginger beer.

I found this ginger beer at Target.

Pour in 1 cup of ginger beer.

Stir to combine.

Pour over ice.

Add a lime wedge and a sprig of mint.

Have a wavy haired taste tester enter the room.

He loved it, but he loves everything I make, so he might not be the best judge.

OK, I tasted it, and it is very good….carry on.

Technically I didn’t do this right.

Technically a Moscow Mule is supposed to be served only in a copper mug.  I don’t have copper mugs.

This pitiful little fire singed metal cup is the closest thing I have to a copper mug, and technically it doesn’t belong to me.

It’s Little Bit’s, and she wants it back.

I do have the children’s sterling silver baby cups, but drinking a Moscow Mule out of them just some how didn’t seem right.

I can report that the drinks were great, and I can’t imagine that they would have been much different from a copper mug.

Enjoy! and have a great weekend,

the wanna be country girl – Caroline
