I need this like I need another hole in the head.
It’s true, I’m really not all that fond of cats, but this guy has me wrapped around his little paw.
You might ask, “how does a non-cat person end up with a cat, much less two?”
Tilly is Little Bit’s cat 100%. Little Bit understands cats. I think they are about one big step away from living with a raccoon in the house.
Back to the kitten. A family friend was walking in a neighborhood Sunday morning and as he passed a roll out trash-can at then end of a driveway, he heard a faint scratching sound. He found the little guy in a box with the top securely shut, all most at the bottom of the trash-can.
He wasn’t in good shape. They brought him to me Sunday afternoon. Poor thing was dehydrated, and very sick.
He’s doing well on mother’s replacement milk and has even started to be interested in solid food. A visit to the vet confirmed he has pneumonia, so he’s on antibiotics, but other than that, he’s in good health.
I’ve spent almost every waking hour with him curled up on my lap. As a family we agreed when we took him, we would re-home him ASAP. So much for that…..we’re hooked. I swear I’m not a cat person.
So, I guess if he’s going to stay here he might as well have a name. Any ideas?

He’s precious! Why don’t you call him Lucky?

You keep on denying you’re not a cat person. Somehow they convert you – I’ve got two and I’m not quite sure how it happened!

As you already have one guess I have no need to remind you ‘Dogs have owners, cats have staff’ …. !
Hope he gets well soon

Chance?? It’s a synonym for lucky, happenstance, karma, kismet, divine decree, etc. I think it fits the situation in more ways than one!
I agree with Always Hungry, I love Oliver!
How about “Oliver” from Oliver Twist? He looks like an Oliver to me. So sweet!
What about Lucky? Since he is one Lucky cat to have landed in your lap! Of course, We aren’t very creative around here… Found a tiny kitten around midnight … Named him midnight. Found a dog in the alley & she is Annie- short for Little Orphan Annie:)
Well, it is the color of charcoal, so that might be a good name. You could go with a good southern name like ButterBean. He is just lucky to have found a loving home.
How about “Scratch”? Glad you saved him…:)JP
Glad he was saved! When we lived in VA, a family brought in a litter of pups they’d pulled from the dumpster at the dump!!!! As for a name…how about “Scratch”?
