Greening up

The weeping willows are getting dressed for Spring.

The day lilies are peeking their head up from underground. I hope the dogs don’t step on them.

Even the Vinca has decided to come out from under the rock and bloom.

And strangest of all, over in the pond the duck weed and parrots feather plants have started to green up.

I know it’s too early, but I can’t help but get excited. There’s still plenty of time for snow and bad weather yet, but I think I’ll be like Miss Scarlet, and worry about that another day.

A Light exists in Spring
Not present on the Year
At any other period —
When March is scarcely here

A Color stands abroad
On Solitary Fields
That Science cannot overtake
But Human Nature feels.

It waits upon the Lawn,
It shows the furthest Tree
Upon the furthest Slope you know
It almost speaks to you.

Then as Horizons step
Or Noons report away
Without the Formula of sound
It passes and we stay —

A quality of loss
Affecting our Content
As Trade had suddenly encroached
Upon a Sacrament.

Wow, I would LOVE to live somewhere spring is already peeking out. Where I live (northern plains), we still have FEET of snow on the ground and it won’t be going away any time soon. Spring won’t be here “officially” here ’til the end of March or April.
