Friends for breakfast

This morning as I was in the kitchen making breakfast, I looked out on the side porch and I could see I wasn’t alone.

Isn’t he just beautiful,………but every time I see a cardinal they remind me of someone.

This is Heat Miser from the movie “The Year Without a Santa Claus.” I think it’s the cardinal’s crest of red feathers that reminds me of the Heat Miser. By the way, if you’ve never see “The Year Without a Santa Claus,” put it on your Holiday to do list for next Christmas.

Then this little guy popped in for a quick bite. Isn’t he just the cutest thing, he was about the size of a golf ball. I would love to know what kind of bird he is, if you know.

My mind went straight to Kermit the Frog. We loved “The Muppet Show” in our house growing up. Even my parents couldn’t resist laughing at the two grumpy old men in the balcony.

And then further down the railing I noticed our dog food eating squirrel had joined in the feast. He doesn’t touch the bird seed, he goes straight for the dog chow. Notice his bright eyes and shiny coat. Then just like every time I see this unafraid squirrel gorging himself, my mind went to a dark place.

Literally a dark place……my attic…….I hope he doesn’t decide to take up residence. This isn’t my attic, but it might be if I don’t watch out.

talk to you tomorrow,

‘The Year Without a Santa Claus” is one of my favorites (next to How the Grinch Stole Christmas~with Boris Karloff). Somehow, I know you’ll believe this…I even know the words to the song!!!…:)

JP, don’t you just love it. We get so excited every year when it comes on. I love Heat Miser’s mother……Mother Nature of course.
    see ya,
