Sunny Monday

Hope you all had a happy Mother’s Day. Billy and I hosted a Mother’s Day luncheon here at our house for his mother, my mother and several other extended family mothers. We had 23 in total and between the beautiful weather and the wonderful food everyone brought, it was a relaxing and stress free day.

I’m taking some time to play in the vegetable garden this afternoon and thank goodness I’ve always got someone at my feet ready to help me dig. If I could only redirect her energy!

Prosciutto, Fig and Sage pizza with Creme Fraiche

SONY DSC This pizza is sweet and salty, creamy and crunchy all at the same time. In other words, it’s just about the perfect pizza. Made with crème fraîche instead of a tomato base it’s different in just the right way.

SONY DSC Start with a homemade dough. I used Wolfgang Puck’s famous honey crust he uses at Spago. You’ll find the full recipe here.

SONY DSC Next, get your crème fraîche. It’s super easy to make and only has two ingredients, cream and buttermilk. You’ll find the recipe for making homemade creme fraiche here.

SONY DSC To your crème fraîche add ground pepper, mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Fold until well combined.

SONY DSC Arrange fresh sliced figs, sage and prosciutto ham over the crème fraîche base and sprinkle with a little parmesan cheese. Add a layer of caramelized onions if you like. I love the combination of sweet onion with salty ham.

SONY DSC Run into a preheated oven at ’450 for about 10 minutes or until brown and bubbling.

SONY DSC Enjoy,

Please make this apple tart….I asked nicely

SONY DSC

So here it is, a plea from me to you. Please make this apple tart, it’s just too delicious not to. It’s been a little over two years since I first posted it on the blog and I thought of you, my sweet reader, when I was throwing one together this weekend. I thought how easy it is to make and how it always turns out perfectly every time, then best of all, it tastes so good. So there, I’m begging you to give it a try.

Here’s the link to the original post….go forth and bake. Oh, and let me know how it turns out!
